We were crafted for 3 things: 1. Love God with all We were crafted for 3 things: 1. Love God with all we've got. 2. Love ourselves (so we can accomplish #3) 3. Love our neighbors (community, peers, etc.) It's so easy to find your place in faith by looking at the proverbial Sunday School star ⭐ chart. Something inside of us struggles to find our worth in being a son & daughter so we find our worth by being a "better" sinner than those around us. I feel like Jesus taught on this? 🤔 Something about a plank and a speck?? Idk... You check it out. You know, when we are ready to judge (point fingers, be offended with, make much of something outside our preferences) others we miss the whole point of going into the world and sharing THE good news. That we all come as we are and are invited to a life in pursuit of Him. A life that looks less broken, lonely, and separated from God than yesterday. The good news that my preference doesn't overrule your pursuit. You worship how you need to. My eyes should be fixed on Him not you, anyway. The good news that Jesus came for EVERYONE (even that one you hate, dislike, want to kick out of the church because they haven't 'arrived' like you have. I've had my fair share of throwing stones. I've also been on the receiving end of thrown stones. The truth is- no one wins when we are all wounded and/or prideful. A challenge for the week... Wash some feet (I mean in service but if you need to actually wash some feet to get humble go for it. Jesus did it.) Love someone you disagree with. Pray for your enemy so that YOUR heart will change. Be all about the 3 things Jesus said should rule our lives. And, for the love of God, put down the stones. Let's give people a chance. Better yet, let's give God a chance to move in their lives as we act in His kindness so He can overwhelm them with His love & grace. Love you. Go change the world 💜
Watching my girls all work to balance each other a Watching my girls all work to balance each other and move in unity on a shepherd's staff was equal parts hilarious and eye opening. 🧡 My oldest trying to rally the troops 🧡My middle not really helping but not holding anyone back from moving forward. 🧡My youngest sitting down causing a full stop and being upset with the ones in front of her don't pull her to her destination. There are so many ways this analogy can go but I think what stands out the most to me is how this is a picture of what it can feel like to carry the weight of ministry with the thought that it's your job to make sure everyone is comfortable and wants to come along. If we listen to what's happening in the church right now we will see that many are bleeding out. Broken. Wounded. On the edge of walking away. We see people who have been abused by leadership and leadership that have been poorly discipled on how to love well- so focused on building their culture that they've walked away from the focus of God's kingdom. As a new-ish lead pastor I'm thankful we haven't allowed ourselves to be deaf to the broken at the hands of the church. We aren't mad by their anger and we don't judge because of their rebuke. Probably because, in a lot of ways, we were there, too. Serving, emptying ourselves out, and not being poured into in return. We can empathize because we know there is truth and a call for repentance in the words of the hurting. Leadership means recognizing that our job is to bring people to the Good Shepherd (Jesus) not create dependency on a brand (the model of modern church). I don't want to be the one who walks into faith sitting down and being upset when my lack of involvement produces a lack of movement in my life. I don't want to be the one who barely dives in. Halfway commits. And never really knows what's going on. I also don't want to be the one that feels like I'm dragging everyone else along and losing my focus on the one who is calling us to Himself. Here's the thing, the world isn't going to keep hiding the hurt that happens in the walls of the church. BUT, what we can do as a church that listens is repent. Welcome the hurting. It's simple.
There are so many times I wish I would've had a wo There are so many times I wish I would've had a woman in my corner at just the right time to say just the right thing. That lets me know that there may be a young girl or some other woman that needs what I needed. So, I'm going to be that for us from time to time. Here's the start of becoming what I've prayed for. I love you. I'm cheering you on! • • To the woman who was told you take up too much space. I'll never forget the day that a trusted woman looked at me and said, "Don't you think that's a lot of you." The feeling of breath leaving my lungs and my heart plummeting to my stomach was only the beginning of the tailspin those words would create. Since then I've met so many women that have heard similar words. - You're too much. - You're too loud - You're too opinionated You need to hear this: YOU are just enough to do everything you were created to do. You are loud enough to shout over the lies that try to tear others (and yourself) down. You have thoughts and perspectives that will shake tradition and build a better world. I've decided that just because someone else was uncomfortable with the space God placed me in doesn't mean I don't belong in it. The same is true for you. Take up space. Talk louder. Shake nations. If someone feels like you're too much they can go find lesser, quieter, and passive. You don't have to become something you're not to sit at a table that was already built for you. 💜 Go set the world on fire, friend. 🔥

Harper: Dad, there is NO ONE better than you. 😭 Tonight was Harper's sweet heart dance and her Dad made sure she experienced all her worth. He brought her flowers, gave her a necklace with a C on it and told her how much of an honor it is to be the Dad that gets to share his last name with her. The way her eyes sparkled as he poured love out in words, gifts, and time... There are no words. She's right. There isn't anyone better than Austin Cyler Craig. So glad he is the Dad to our girls.
